News / HistoryMay 11, 2005 - QTRCO announces changes in responsibilities and titles for two key executives. Ed Holtgraver, co-founder of QTRCO with Magnus Palmstierna, will assume the title of Chief Executive Officer. Shawn Hughes is promoted from General Manager to the position of President effective immediately. The changes reflect the increased responsibilities assumed by Shawn during his 6 years with QTRCO.
March 2005 - QTRCO publishes our second QTRCO Quarterly Newsletter. As this is the scond such newletter in our 6 1/2 year age, we may be stretching the facts just a bit calling it a quarterly publication - even if we qualify the term by using 'every quarter decade or so ...'. Well, it was well worth waiting for and it contains considerable information regarding events and changes at QTRCO. Click HERE for your copy. January 2005 - We are very pleased to announce that Industrial Controls and Equipment (ICE) has been appointed the exclusive distributor for QTRCO Series "Q and "T" actuators in Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Eastern Ohio. Well recognized in the marketplace and with a full staff of sales and product specialists, plus valve automation and repair facilities, ICE is especially well suited to representing our QTRCO products. Contact ICE at ... September 2004 - We moved in to our new 11,000 square foot building
at the beginning of August. April 2004 - The building is progressing. To date the slab and the driveway are poured. Framinig is being laid to pour the walls. If we have no rain, we should have walls, albeit still layiing flat on the slab, within one week. February 2004 - We have broken ground for the new building.
The size has been increased to 11,000 square foot and we decided to
use tilt-wall construction for a better looking facility. Did someone
say 'paperwork'?
January 2004 - We have just begun to mention the new XYTRQ actuator which is nearing production. What a great design .. (biased - not us). All of the design concepts that have been proven in the QTRPAQ actuators are included. The primary difference is the material selection - as the body and cylinder / end caps are of die cast aluminum in the XYTRQ. The shaft and rack remain the same 316SS as the QTRPAQ and are interchangeable between the two actuators for uniformity. August 2003 - QTRCO announces the acquisition of 3 acres of wooded land in Tomball, TX for the purpose of constructing a 10,500 square foot factory and office building. June 6, 2003 - This date marked the 5th anniversary of QTRCO. We opened our doors on this day 5 years ago, although we had spent over 2 years in product development and sourcing. After 5 years in business, we still offer a 3 year performance warranty on the "Q" Series actuators. With such a generous offer, it is a good thing for us that they hold up in service. Your interest in our products is appreciated and are confident that we will provide better delivery and service than that to which you have become accustomed. Give us a try. May 2002 - We added the aluminum "T" Series, an outsourced but excellent aluminum rack & pinion actuator. From the brochure, you will see that the"T" Series adheres to our design philosophy of massive shaft bushings, pressure balanced shafts and piston located travel stops (prevents shaft side loading inherent with cam & screw types). For commodity applications, we believe you will find this actuator to be competitively priced, yet superior to others you may be using. September 18, 2001 - Jill (Operations Manager) and Shawn (General Manager) Hughes announce the birth of their Daughter Amber Elizabeth Hughes. Amber is appointed our official spokesperson and web site host. July 2001 - QTRCO relocates TIPCO, bringing the machine shop under the same roof as the QTRCO assembly operations. This move further enhances our coordination of components and enables improved communications with reduced paper processing. TIPCO remains a separate, but wholly owned subsidiary of QTRCO. December 1999 - QTRCO purchases DACO machine shop, renames company TIPCO. With the acquisition of a fully capable machine shop, QTRCO will machine the majority of our actuator components in house for assured quality and availability. TIPCO is located on Interstate Highway 45 North in Spring, TX. September 1999 - Size range expanded to seven basic sizes in both DA and SR versions. Also announced availability of oversized as well as tandem pistons for allowing operation on very low supply pressures. June 1999 - QTRCO announces the introduction of a double square female drive geometry for all size QTRPAQ stainless steel actuators. With identical drives on both top and bottom of the actuators, rotational operation is reversible by simply turning the actuator top side down. A unique 'Top Hat" converts the side that is not attached to the valve, to a fully NAMUR compliant mounting for accessories. July 1998 - QTRCO's first shipment of actuators. Our first order was received only days after the official opening in June 1998. Benchmark Controls (later acquired by New England Controls) placed this first order. A truly memorable day.
June 6, 1998 - QTRCO is open for business. Four actuator sizes, male shafts. May 1998 - Ed Holtgraver and Magnus Palmstierna (former owner of PMV Positioners) join in a partnership to manufacture 1/4 turn valve actuators using the name QTRCO. February 1996 - Ed Holtgraver (former President of Keystone Valve USA) receives US Patent on the Unique QTRCO Actuator design. Less than a year later, patent applications are filed in multiple foreign countries. EditRegion6 |
